There will be two parts to these projects: (1) to write an essay, something like 6,000 words together with figures and references. This should be like a somewhat short research paper, properly structured and fully referenced. (2) A poster, with many fewer words and more figures, such as you would bring to a scientific conference.
Both the poster and the paper will be due on 10 December 2010. We will have a poster conference, with food and such, on the morning of Friday 10 December. The place is yet to be confirmed.
The first step in the project will be to define the team, and write an outline for the project. You should form into teams of two unless you are convinced that your project requires three. We will accept one team of three. The one pager should be an outline of what you intend to present together with a plan as to how you intend to go about it. These outlines need to be submitted by Wednesday 10 November. We will retrun and review these plans in calss on Friday November 12 November. BEFORE Friday 5 November, you should e0mail to Ralf/Brad to confirm your topic and team composition.
