Entry Requirements

The primary criteria for acceptance of an applicant are: his or her anticipated successful completion of the programme; and the willingness of a participating faculty member to supervise the applicant.

The assessment of an applicant's likelihood of success can be carried out in a variety of ways. Students will be expected to hold a B.Sc. (Honours) degree, or equivalent, with a strong computational orientation. At the time of application, the student will be invited to demonstrate his or her background in the field. For example, an undergraduate B.Sc. thesis which involved scientific computing would generally be acceptable, as would work experience which involved computing in a scientific environment. The successful completion of an Hons. B.Sc. degree which included a number of computer science courses would also be acceptable.

Admission decisions will be made by the School of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the chair of the Coordinating Committee.
