Vortex dipoles


Formation of a vortex dipole in a linearly stratified fluid. Initially a strong jet of dyed fluid is injected horizontally from a small round nozzle during a short period of time. The irregular small-scale motions decay and a large coherent vortex structure forms. For more detail see
