[Atmosdyn] meeting remarks

Hi all,


Today we discussed about Vorticity and the Potential Vorticity conservation. There came some questions about physical understanding of these conservation equations. We had an example of land sea situation where we were trying to understand how the change in potential temperature and hight would affect the vorticity and how we could preserve the vorticity when transitioning from one medium to other. The most intriguing question was:

-What happened to the air parcel moving along different potential temperature isotherm?

next week we will start by discussing the above question and then Aura is going to present about Quasi Geostrophic section 5.3.
